Tesoro Tiger Shark Review

In our Tesoro Tiger Shark review, we’ll run through the features of this excellent VLF metal detector that works well on both land and in the sea.

About the Tesoro Tiger Shark Metal Detector

The Tesoro Tiger Shark is a dual function underwater metal detector, solving that age old problem where a VLF detector is adversely affected in salt water. It has a ‘normal’ mode with ground balance and discrimination features. It also has a ‘salt water’ to tune out mineralization. We love how simple and easy it is to switch between the best type of detector for land and sea.

The Tesoro Tiger Shark is best for:

  • Underwater treasure hunting
  • Coin and relic hunting on land
  • Gold prospecting
  • Jewelry hunting
  • Beach hunting

The Tiger Shark, like the Sand Shark, is waterproof to a depth of 200 feet (66 meters).

Tesoro Tiger Shark vs Garret AT Pro

The Tiger Shark and AT Pro are both VLF metal detectors. The AT Pro is packed full of features and has a steep learning curve. So beginners and less experienced treasure hunters would be better off with the Tiger Shark.

The AT Pro is only waterproof to a depth of 10 feet, whereas the Tiger Shark is waterproof to 200 feet. So, it depends on whether diving with your metal detector is important or not. Both models are suited to beach and salt water environments.

Garrett offers a two-year warranty compared to Tesero’s lifetime warranty. Just be sure to check what it means in terms of service, how much you’d have to pay to ship it to a repair centre, etc.

The Tiger Shark’s search coil is hardwired, but the AT Pro’s are interchangeable. That might be a big factor for you to consider.

Both offer good battery life and are made in the USA. Read our AT Pro review and decide for yourself whether the AT Pro or Tiger Shark is best for you and where and how you want to go treasure hunting.
